"Paraphrasing an unforgettable civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther
King, who in his famous speech in front of the Lincoln Memorial, Washington,
D.C., in 1963, coined the phrase ‘I have a dream’, I would like
to begin by saying that all of us who make up the ARPIA group once had a dream.
A dream that we see materialized today. It was actually at the beginning of
the stormy 2001 when, almost unnoticeably at first, and later with more impetus,
a group of colleagues conceived ARPIA in an attempt to provide an answer to
that stronger and stronger call to unite and serve our clients in the best
possible way.
We were not moved by a corporate spirit,
but rather by the desire to present a valid
and, above all, valuable alternative for
our sector. This is how ARPIA,
the Association of Dealers and Suppliers
of Analytical Instruments and Related Items,
began growing as from a handful
of wills behind an odd name. The untiring
and absolutely altruistic work of many
of our colleagues, whom I wish to mention
by their names, contributed to the materialization
of this first ExpoArpia: Roberto Raveglia,
Enrique Kmet, Carlos D’Amico, José Manuel
Lareo, Victorio Bogunovich, Alejandro Aufenffeld,
Enrique Salvo, Norberto Scheps, Roberto
Bouquot, Ricardo Maffeo, Daniel Escati,
Jorge Grinstein, Eduardo Buonono, Aldo
Solari. To all of them, thank you!
And my teammate, Daniel Polack, indefatigably
active, and a true pillar of this event.
Gualberto Mostajo, chairman of CADIAC,
who joined the challenge and gave us his
cooperation and measured and firm advice
at all times. And last but not least, everything
would have been even much harder without
the unyielding support of Cristina Sarubbi,
our secretary and guiding spirit. Thank
you, Cristina!
Side by side with the organizers of this
event, we have reached today’s reality.
It has been for me a great privilege indeed
to share with all of them this magnificent
gestation. With the unconditional support
of our Control Devices and Instrumentation
Chamber (CADIAC) - which celebrates this
year 2005 its first 50 years of successful
existence -, we overcame the many obstacles
on our way to today’s beautiful scenario.
I would like to warn you that the difficulties
are not behind us, for this exhibition
is not yet completed, and we still have
certain logistics problems that we hope
to be able to solve throughout the rest
of the day.
28 companies from CADIAC and our group
have answered our call to take part in
ExpoArpia, while we hope to have 40 others
among us soon.
And which is our reality? That which we
show and will show as from this moment
at this Buenos Aires Exhibition Center.
The latest technological progress in the
field of analytical chemistry equipment
and laboratory quality control, presented
by the most renowned world brands in the
sector. With much pride, we may say that
no one has been left out, everyone is taking
part.
More than 50 technical & commercial
presentations will be made by specialists
summoned by the different exhibitor companies
to illustrate on standards, techniques,
products, and applications.
Furthermore, 18 renowned professionals
from the most prestigious academic and
scientific research centers of Argentina
will speak about their field of work, of
which they are local and international
exponents. We need to make public our gratitude
to these professionals and researchers,
who will afford academic glow to these
scientific lectures.
I also wish to mention our sponsors, the
Argentine Chemical Association and the
Argentine Association of Analytical Chemists,
our adherentes, as well as the Argentine
Government for having declared the exhibition
of National Interest.
Finally, our most sincere gratitude goes
to all exhibitor colleagues and lecturers
of the technical & commercial presentations
for having placed their trust on us and
contributed with their efforts to the materialization
of this first ExpoArpia. To all of them,
once again, thank you!
